The gastronomic adventure begins in Auckland, where you will be introduced to the city on a private tour (we advise you to sample the creative Pacific Rim cuisine in one of the many acclaimed waterfront restaurants). The next day, take a scenic ferry ride to Waiheke Island and spend some time learning about this charming island; your tour will focus specifically on the wineries, art and Maori cultural history. Return via ferry to Auckland and self-drive to Napier, an artsy city with a unique spirit. In Napier, take a full day tour of the Napier, Hastings, and Havelock North wine regions. From here, self-drive to Martinborough with a quick stop for a tour in Greytown along the way. Martinborough is famous for its award-winning wines and your full day guided tour will allow you to sample some vintages along with tasty specialty food items. Self-drive to Wellington and enjoy a full day walking-and-tasting tour of New Zealand’s “café capital” – meet restaurateurs, baristas, and chefs (and sample their wares) before a celebratory tasting lunch accopanied by matching New Zealand wines. Fly to Blenheim and take a half-day winetasting tour before concluding the trip in Queenstown with a full day of private touring which, of course, includes the wine region and a celebratory degustation dinner. Delicious! |
