This three-week program provides travelers with the ultimate combination of all of Madagascar’s varied ecosystems. After an introductory night in Tana (the local nickname for Antananarivo), head to Berenty Private Reserve. Berenty’s unique position combines classic southern spiny and gallery forest, and is one of the most popular and important reserves in Madagascar. Stop in Fort Dauphin before continuing to Tulear and then Morondava on the west coast. A visit to Baobab Alley is a must when traveling to this area, as is a day excursion to Kirindy Forest. After seeing the highlights, continue to Perinet, where moist montane rainforest is rich habitat for a fantastic array of lemurs, birds, reptiles and more. Follow your visit to Perinet with time at Amber Mountain National Park, a lush forested region that is home to seven species of lemurs as well as reptiles, amphibians, and birds. Included here is a visit to Red Tsingy, delicate sandstone structures that create beautiful forms. From Amber Mountain, head to Masoala National Park, where activities include kayaking, fishing, hiking, and snorkelling in the three marine reserves. The trip concludes with three nights in Ile Sainte Marie, an island with exceptionally beautiful beaches. Sunbathe, swim, and snorkel in the crystal waters that gently lap the beaches of this magnificent island paradise. |
