| Kenya is justifiably world-famous for the quality of its gameviewing; its wildlife parks are teeming with a seemingly limitless variety of animals and the landscape they roam is truly breathtaking. This ten-day trip showcases three of Kenya’s most beautiful parks: Shaba National Reserve, Laikipia Plateau, and the Maasai Mara. Start at Joy’s Camp in Shaba; the lodge is named for Joy Adamson, the conservationist who became famous after her book, Born Free, chronicled her family’s efforts to return an orphaned lion cub to the wild. Spend two full days exploring Shaba on game drives, bush walks, and visits to the nearby Magado Crater. From Joy’s Camp, head to Sabuk Lodge in the Laikipia Plateau, which stretches from Mount Kenya to the edge of the Great Rift Valley. Laikipia is still relatively unknown for visitors to Kenya, and is one of the only places where wildlife numbers have actually increased. At Sabuk, you are encouraged to spend one night at a fly camp, where a team of professional Samburu guides will lead you to a remote area of wilderness to experience the quiet beauty of Shaba. The trip concludes with two full days at Saruni Camp in the Maasai Mara, where knowledgeable Maasai guides will introduce you to this thrilling reserve, which is considered the jewel in the crown of Kenya’s parks. | |||
