This two-week itinerary offers a celebration of Kenyan cultural heritage and the people and properties that are working to preserve and empower local communities and customs. Start with a single night in Nairobi at the Palacina Hotel before heading to Saruni Samburu Camp in Samburu National Reserve; Saruni is built on land owned by the Kalama Wildlife Conservancy and local Samburu act as the professional guides at the property. From there, head to Loisaba Wilderness in the Laikipia Plateau, which stretches from the base of Mount Kenya to the edge of the Great Rift Valley. The lodge is very active in community projects that involve local residents through the Loisaba Community Trust. The lodge also has some unusual features, like the Loisaba Star Beds that allow guests to spend a night on an outdoor platform beneath the African sky. Next, head to Rekero Tented Camp inside the Masai Mara Game Reserve, where local Maasai trackers accompany guests on the daily game drives. Conclude the journey at Campi ya Kanzi on the slopes of the Chyulu Hills near Amboseli National Park, where you will once again be accompanied by local Maasai trackers who will introduce you to the game that roam freely in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro. |
