| With more than two weeks, Ethiopia can be explored thoroughly, with time at not only the better-known cities and attractions but also some of the lesser known but equally compelling highlights. This itinerary begins in Addis Ababa for some introductory touring before heading to Bahir Dar to see the source of the Blue Nile and take a boat trip on Lake Tana. From Bahir Dar, head to the castles and battlements of Gondar, which once played host to Indian Moghuls and the court of Louis XVI. After exploring Gondar, fly to Lalibela for extensive touring of the famous rock-hewn churches and then continue to Langano to see its lovely lakes and interesting villages. Continue to Arba Minch, visiting the Dorze people on the way, and spend a full day exploring Netchsar National Park, with a boat ride on Lake Chamo. The next stop is Jinka, where you will have an opportunity to visit a Mursi village; though they are most famous for inserting wooden discs into their lips and earlobes, there is much more of interest to learn while visiting with them. From Jinka, head to Turmi to visit with some residents in Murulle, where the Karo tribes live, and Omorate, where the Geleb people make their homes. Return to Addis Ababa via Arba Minch, with plenty of stops for photographs and sightseeing along the way! | |||
