| The intensity of the Buddhist faith exhibited by the Burmese, as well as the worship of nats, or pre-Buddhist, animist spirits always moves visitors to Burma. This tour focuses on the many sacred cities and pilgrimage sites throughout the country. Begin with a sunset visit to Yangon's spectacular Shwedagon Pagoda then head south to Kyaiktiyo to visit the sacred Golden Rock Pagoda. Next, continue to Bago and take in the monuments of the city's glorious past. Your next stop is Bagan for two full days of exploring the 2,000 ancient temples covering the Irrawaddy Plains and Mt. Popa, considered the dwelling place of the country's most powerful nats. Next fly to Mandalay, the country's most important center of Buddhism, with over 60% of Burma's monks and nuns living in the area. Visit nearby Amarapura & Mingun, and then return to Yangon.
