Swala
Tarangire National Park
Shaded beneath acacia trees in a rarely visited and very private area of
Tarangire National Park, this tented camp gives visitors a chance to escape
modern distractions and immerse themselves in nature. The best feature of
Swala is its prime location, away from the busy tourist routes and close
to the Tarangire River. The river is the park's central watering hole and,
as a result, herds of animals come for daily refreshment. The nine permanent
tents are comfortably equipped with en-suite bathrooms and showers and private
raised wooden terraces that offer good animal viewing even when the daily
game drives have concluded. The main dining area serves pan-Asian cuisine
complemented by African wine served inside the shaded canvas tent or on
the terrace overlooking the nearby waterhole.
