The Copacabana Palace
Rio de Janeiro
Rio's longtime preferred hotel for the traveling elite, the Copacabana
Palace has deservedly earned its status as the best hotel in Rio. Only
steps away from the famed beach that shares its name, the Copacabana is
the perfect haven for travelers who enjoy pampering themselves. We recommend
the luxurious pool suites, which feature a comfortable sitting area and
veranda overlooking the pool and the beach. The hotel boasts the only
rooftop tennis court in the Rio and the semi-Olympic sized swimming pool
is popular with hotel guests and Rio's hip and powerful; the Cipriani
Restaurant serves some of the best Italian cuisine in all of Brazil.

Fasano Hotel
Rio de Janeiro
Philippe Starck is justly famous for his golden touch with hotel design and the Fasano will not disappoint fans of his other hotspots. Magnificent views capitalize on the property's proximity to Ipanema Beach and a retro-modern vibe gently references Ipanema's glamorous mid-century heyday. All of the 82 rooms and 10 suites come equipped with Egyptian-cotton sheets, flat-screen televisions, and balconies to enjoy the fresh sea breeze. Fasano is a hip hotel (without a hint of attitude) in a perfect beach location -- don't miss the gorgeous rooftop pool and have at least one seafood meal at Al Mare restaurant.

Casas
Brancas
Buzios
Casas Brancas means "White Houses" in Portuguese and this boutique "pousada"
is, indeed, a series of crisp white buildings terraced into the hillside
overlooking the bay of Buzios. We love the small, distinctly Mediterranean
feel of it and the clean minimal style that allows the magnificent surroundings
to take center stage - and the oceanfront rooms with private decks mean
that guests can spend as long as they like admiring the view. The property
has an airy feel that is at once chic and casual - much like Buzios itself.
Twenty of the area's famously beautiful beaches are within walking distance,
so Casas Brancas is a perfect place to spend a couple of days relaxing.

Insolitos
Buzios
Once a private estate, this stylish hotel caters to the notoriously fabulous travelers that flock to Buzios. The expansive property features lush Mediterranean gardens, two swimming pools and sweeping vistas over Ferradura Bay. The rooms and suites are decorated in individual themes and are scattered along the cliffside on different levels. Each of the guestrooms has an airy feeling with large windows, wood floors, white leather chairs and splashes of color from the fabrics and artwork. The restaurant is perched atop the cliff with a winding wooden deck below equipped with a large pool and gauze-draped daybeds. There are 26 nearby beaches, a lovely spa, 18-hole golf course and private yoga available at the wellness center.

Ponta
Dos Ganchos
Santa Catarina
Tucked away on southern Brazil's pristine Emerald Coast and surrounded by
the greenery of the Atlantic rainforest is the ultra-exclusive Ponta Dos
Ganchos. Ceiling fans, fireplaces, and wooden decks with ocean views create
a rustic-chic atmosphere in the 20 bungalows sprinkled around the property.
The most opulent bungalow comes equipped with a dry sauna and Jacuzzi inside
an alcove with a bay window and glass roof. The restaurant prepares each
meal to the guest's request, and specializes in fresh seafood caught daily
- don't miss the delicious Catarinense oysters. Also located on the property
is the first Spa Dior in Brazil, which offers rejuvenating treatments in
specialty 'spa tents' with sea views.

Txai
Itacare, Bahia
Pronounced “chai” (like the spicy Indian tea), this captivating resort is ten miles south of Itacare in the state of Bahia, which is famous for endless sand beaches guarded by an extensive tropical rainforest. Txai’s guest suites are sprinkled among 6,000 acres that were once a coconut plantation -- each one-bedroom cabin has wooden floors, shutters, palm-thatch details, and mosquito-netted beds. The “rustic-chic” concept blends traditional elements with modern flair – the library is housed in a futuristic-looking glass cube that provides an interesting architectural contrast to the colonial-style living areas and laid-back cottages. Guests can take advantage of adventurous activities during the day (hiking, horseback riding, zip-lining, and capoeira lessons are among the offerings) or simply spend the days enjoying the beach and an authentically Brazilian resort that is so elegantly, effortlessly comfortable.

Convento do Carmo
Salvador da Bahia
Located in the heart of Salvador's mystical Pelourinho district, the building that houses this luxury property served as a working convent for centuries. It dates to 1586 and is today an important and respected symbol of Brazil's colonial and religious heritage. In addition to an interior courtyard with a lovely pool area and a separate private chapel, the hotel offers 79 luxurious rooms -- and no two are exactly alike. We strongly recommend spending at least one night in the Convento do Carmo: the rich atmosphere and fascinating history of the building makes for an unforgettable experience. In short, get thee to this nunnery!

Uxua Casa Resort
Trancoso
Trancoso, a small fishing village known for its superb coastlines, slow-paced days, and UNESCO-protected Quadrado village green, has just been put on the map for a new reason: Uxua Casa Resort. In collaboration with a team of local artisans, designer Wilbert Das has created nine unique casas giving true meaning to the term "rustic luxury." Carefully chosen vintage Brazilian furniture and recycled materials accessorized the open-sky bathrooms, lush private gardens, and fully-equipped kitchens, while gorgeous touches like the glimmering one-of-a-kind quartz swimming pool and seaside bar made of abandoned fishing boats adorn the common areas. But our favorite part was certainly the multi-level tree house made entirely of recycled wood, speaking to the creativity, attention to the environment, and craftsmanship that embody every corner of the property.
